Ready Player One
“Ready Player One” by Ernest Cline is my all-time favourite book. The book is set in the near future, to be more precise in 2040. It’s about a boy called Wade Watts and he’s a video game enthusiast and a typical nerd. He loves everything from the 90s, especially movies, games, music and series.
In this post-apocalyptic world, a special videogame earned popularity. It’s called OASIS, and it’s comparable to an already existing game called “second life”. Everyone is hiding in that virtual reality and no one cares about all the crises around the world.
One day, the developer of OASIS died. He was called “Halliday” and had no wife, no kids, no family at all. He revealed a Website. On this website was a quote and an exercise. Do get the three keys and defeat the boss. And the first one to ever achieve it will receive all of Halliday’s heritage.
The task lasted for about 5 years, when Wade finally beat the end boss. But many interesting plot twists were included in that book. But it would be boring to tell everything, I don’t want to spoil anyone.
It’s a great book, I also call it my “bible” because it has so many quotes in it, which describe me perfectly. I read it about 4 times and it still fascinates me.
